IoTeX & University of Cincinnati: Research Partnership on Privacy-Preserving Cryptography for Blockchain
IoTeX is excited to sponsor and partner with the University of Cincinnati to build a joint research and development laboratory, which will focus on high-performance privacy-preserving cryptography research and applications for blockchain. As a privacy-centric blockchain platform, IoTeX has already developed innovative blockchain privacy protocols
and will work with University of Cincinnati researchers and professors to further drive cutting-edge blockchain privacy research.
As an append-only data structure, each full node in a blockchain has to store a full copy of the transaction history and it takes a long time for new users to verify the accuracy of all the previous transactions. This issue is even more relevant for blockchains that are privacy-enabled due to higher computational overhead requirements.
To address this issue, IoTeX is conducting joint research with the University of Cincinnati’s blockchain research team, led by Professor Boyang Wang. The joint laboratory is designing a new algorithm for reducing the verification overhead for privacy-preserving blockchains and cryptocurrencies, which aims to significantly improve the efficiency, scalability, and usability of a cryptocurrency network.
Boyang Wang is a tenure-track Assistant Professor in the Department of Electrical Engineering and Computer Science at University of Cincinnati. He received his Ph.D. in Electrical and Computer Engineering from the University of Arizona in 2017, his Ph.D. in Cryptography and B.S. in Information Security from Xidian University, China, in 2013 and 2007, respectively. He also worked for Bosch Research & Technology Center in 2015.
