For this entry into the series, we have managed to persuade our Co-Founder and Engineering Lead Michael into taking a short break to provide some insight into his past experiences, as well as his vision for the future. It is for sure a fascinating read!

What was your profession prior to TenX, and how did you fall into crypto?
I completed my master’s degree in computer science at the University of Innsbruck (Austria) in 2011. After looking for an innovative project to work on for a while, I decided to start a PhD thesis in Bioinformatics, working on data driven drug discovery methods. Two years into the project it unfortunately became very apparent that the laboratory producing the data was not able to produce data quickly enough to yield reasonable analysis results. This left me with the choice to pivot my whole PhD thesis to a new topic or move on with something new, which eventually I did by joining an interactive visualisation startup called Visalyze as a Frontend Software Engineer in 2013. Additionally, I was helping Toby and Paul out with their previous startup Studypact during my free time. This part time collaboration continued when TenX (at the time still named OneBit) was founded. Later that year, when Toby and Paul managed to raise the first Angel Investment round, I decided to join TenX full time.
How did you meet Toby, Julian and Paul?
